PA FILM TAX CREDIT PROGRAM
Pennsylvania offers a 25% Tax Credit to films that spend at least 60% of their total production budget in the Commonwealth.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
It’s an incentive for productions to film in the state!
It means any production can work in our amazing region while also saving money where they may not elsewhere.
Think about it this way:
When thinking about 60% of a production budget…
If a production has a total budget of $10 Million, at least $6 Million has to be spent in the region.
That’s $6 MILLION injected straight into Pennsylvania’s Economy!
All expenses counted for the tax credit are audited after production.
This is NOT free money.
It’s an investment!
In fact, in southwestern PA, an average every $1 invested into a production has given $218* back to the region’s economy.
*Determined by Milken Institute.
Mayor of Kingstown Season 2
received about $24 MILLION in PA Tax Credit,
but had an estimated $150 MILLION economic impact
on southwestern PA.
What do I need to know?
The PA Film Tax Credit Program is over-subscribed and underfunded.
The program is capped at $100 Million and has to be shared across the state. It stretches thin over the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia film industries.
